English II

Here's another poem I had to write for my english class. Tell me what you think, I loved the feedback on the last one. This one is meant to be somewhat cynical, so keep that in mind when you're reading it.

“I love you”
Do you even know what that means?
You just throw it around
And take it back when it’s convenient
Sometimes I question if you ever meant it
If anyone really means it
Love is modern art
So abstract
So free of boundaries
Can anyone define love?
I have yet to meet someone who can
It’s easy to find someone else who will say
“I love you”
But at the end of the day
What does “I love you” mean?

  1. I liked it, a good reminder of how the word "love" is open to interpretation.

  2. Yeah, i don't think love is a very good word. I love my girlfriend, my brother, my dog, good wine, and being lazy. So... some pretty different feelings there, but all the same word.

  3. Many years ago I had the bad habit of overusing the word love too. I have to say though, my feelings had always been sincere.
