Humble Bundle

Everyone should check out the Humble Bundle! It's an awesome thing where they combine several indie games into a single bundle for really cheap! At this time, you can get 4 games for whatever price you choose, and when you purchase you can choose where you money to go. You can choose to split your money between the game developers, charity, or the Humble Bundle crew. Did I mention you get to name your own price? You can pay $1 dollar or $100 it's all up to you! Anyone who reads this should definitely check it out!

You can check it out here -> http://www.humblebundle.com/

Also, sorry about the lack of posts lately. I've been kind of busy, so I think I'm gonna start writing posts and just scheduling them to be published later

Ender's Game

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite books ever. The book I’m referring to is Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. I’ll give you a basic summary of the book, and then I’ll explain why I like it so much.

Ender’s Game takes place in the near future, and in the book, Earth has been invaded by an alien race twice, and is anticipating a third invasion. In order to prepare for the inevitable 3rd invasion, the world has united and every country sends its most gifted children into space in order to train them to fight the aliens in the third invasion. So, the book follows Ender Wiggin who has been chosen by the government to get sent up to Battle School, and it tracks his journey through Battle School.

From my description of the book, it probably sounds pretty simplistic, but the book is actually pretty complex. It focuses on character development more than anything else, and it’s written from Ender’s point of view, so as a reader you can identify the struggles that Ender goes through.  Ender’s game has taught me a lot about myself, and I really related to the main character, which was really nice. I highly recommend this book to everyone, I’ve lent my copy to many friends, and I have yet to find one who didn’t like it. I can’t emphasize how good this book is. Just go read it!

English II

Here's another poem I had to write for my english class. Tell me what you think, I loved the feedback on the last one. This one is meant to be somewhat cynical, so keep that in mind when you're reading it.

“I love you”
Do you even know what that means?
You just throw it around
And take it back when it’s convenient
Sometimes I question if you ever meant it
If anyone really means it
Love is modern art
So abstract
So free of boundaries
Can anyone define love?
I have yet to meet someone who can
It’s easy to find someone else who will say
“I love you”
But at the end of the day
What does “I love you” mean?

Replacements

I find it kind of weird that I've lost a lot of people who were really close to me at some point, and that I was able to replace them really easily. I guess it's weird because most of the people who've decided to exclude themselves from my life have had a hard time finding someone to replace me in their lives. I'm not sure why it's so easy for me to replace others... Maybe I just don't care about them as much as they do about me? I feel like the one thing you should understand the best is yourself, by I confuse myself all the time. It's quite frustrating...

80's Music

For some reason, last night, I had the urge to listen to some classic 80's rock, and now I can't stop! I've got several songs stuck in my head, and they won't get out! I'm not complaining though, cause they're all awesome ;)
Here's a couple of them. I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do

Starcraft

So, one of my favorite games of all time is StarCraft. Part of the reason that I love this game so much is because of the gameplay. For people who don't know how the game plays out, you end up choosing one of 3 races, and then you and your opponent collect resources in order to create armies and try to kill each other. It's actually a lot more complex, and interesting than it sounds, and it's a ton of fun to watch and play. Each of the races you can choose is completely different from the others, and while there are some units that serve a similar purpose, they each do it in their own way. For me, the most appealing part of playing StarCraft, is the feeling I get when I defeat an opponent. There's something extremely gratifying about beating someone, and knowing that in that moment you were better than them, and your skill level surpassed theirs. Another thing I enjoy about StarCraft is seeing your own improvement. I love when I manage to pull of something that I wasn't able to do before, or when I play for an extended period of time without making mistakes. It feels really good to look back and see that you have actually improved. The StarCraft community is pretty amazing in general, there are some people who are rude, but for the most part everyone is really nice, and finding a practice partner isn't very   difficult. If you've never played StarCraft you should definitely give it a shot, cause it's a bunch of fun :D

This is one of my favorite wallpapers!

This one too :D

Death Note

I just want to preface this post by saying that, I don't really like anime all that much, but I loved this series and I watched the whole thing without an issue. One of the things I liked about it is that, it's a very mature show, and while it has some funny parts, it's mostly serious, and there's not really a point where it feels like a cartoon. I also liked the fact that it had a strong story line, and it stuck it throughout the whole series with very little filler. There were also a lot of neat little plot twists, and the whole time I was watching it was I was wondering what would be happening next, and very rarely was I able to predict the upcoming events. The music was also fantastic, and the right pieces always played at the right time. The music was very atmospheric, and it always helped to contribute to whatever mood the writers were trying to convey. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes anime, or who's thought about watching this show. It's amazing, and you're seriously missing out.

Clash on the Big Bridge!

I really like this song. Like A LOT. It's really upbeat and it has a fast tempo. Plus, if you've played Final Fantasy V, Gilgamesh is one of the best characters ever. Anyway, this is one of my favorite video game songs, and I thought I'd just share it.

I need a new hard drive

I have a hard drive that I use for all of my backups, and it contains most of everything that's on my desktop and laptop. Well, it did until it failed on me for the second time, and now my computer is telling me that the drive needs to be formatted. Formatting it fixed the problem before, but because I formatted it I lost everything on it. So basically, I'm looking to purchase a new hard drive, and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for which one I should throw my money down on.

Project Glass

So I just saw this article on this new piece of hardware that Google is working on, and it looks amazing. It's supposed to provide the user with a heads up display, and kind of work like a smartphone that's integrated into their day. Just looking at the pictures I can see how this would be really useful in everyday situations, and I kind of wonder what the social norm for these things would be. It also makes me feel like we're really detaching ourselves from the world around us, and we're trying to have technology in our faces all the time. Personally, I'm excited for this, but at the same time, I wonder if we're reaching a point where people don't stop to smell the roses anymore.

Interests

I guess it can partially attributed to my ADD, but my interests tend to switch quite often, and I generally don't remain focused on one thing for very long. When it comes to video games, my interests tend to cycle, and it usually goes something like
Starcraft -> Minecraft -> Something different each time -> Starcraft
A week or two ago I lost interest in Minecraft, and I started playing one of my favorite games from my childhood Megaman X. I hadn't played Megaman X in 7+ years, and it was really interesting to see what I remembered from it. I mostly remember the really cool stuff, like being able to use Boomer Kuwangers weapon to cut off Launch Octopus's tentacles, and Flame Mammoth's trunk. It was really cool though, because I couldn't remember what the final boss was like, so I kind of got to experience the whole game over again, which felt awesome. Generally I have pretty good memory, and when I play/listen/read something I usually retain and remember it, and I never get to have the pleasure of experiencing it for the first time again.
This track always makes me nostalgia hard.

Pokemon

I've always really liked Pokemon, but it feels like the older I get the more I appreciate the whole experience. A lot of this has to do with the nostalgia, but I think some of it also has to do with the fact that when I was a younger kid I had a pretty bad home life, and Pokemon was one of the few things I was allowed to enjoy, and it was how I connected with a lot of my kids who ended up being my friends. I'm a big fan of the games (I went to VGC last year) and I always have loved the first series of the TV show despite the fact that it's actually kind of bad and really corny. There's just this feeling of pleasure that I get whenever I do something with Pokemon, but it's different from nostalgia. I feel like I'm kind of rambling here, so I'm gonna cut this short.

Birds

I really like birds. I just think it's awesome how they're one of the few animals that can fly, and most birds are really smart. This is a picture of a Hyacinth Macaw. They're the largest parrots in the world, and they're really cuddly. They're known as the "Gentle Giants" of the parrot world. They have an incredibly powerful bite, (I've experienced it, it's not fun) and they can crack open macadamia nuts like it's not problem. In the wild they spend most of their time hanging upside down from tree branches. The babies are incredibly sweet, and I've had the privilege of being around one as it's grown up. I guess that's it... I might talk about more birds later...

How do you guys pass the time?

I'm not particularly pleased with my home life, and so I end up spending a lot of time outside of my house. The problem is, I never know what to do, and I end up just sitting in my car until I get bored enough to go home. Does anyone else have this problem, and if you do, what do you do to entertain yourself?

So there's this girl... or three...

So, I'm having one of those typical teenage girl problems right now. There's three girls that like me, and I like all of them back, but I can't decide which one to get with (I'm only gonna get with one, 2+ relationships is too much.) I dated the first one for 2 years and we've been separated for about 6 months now. I really love her, but there's been a lot of hurt between us in the past. The second one is the girl I'm taking with me to prom, she's really smart and cute and all that good stuff. The third one is this really sweet girl who likes to do stuff for me (cook, bring me surprises, etc...) and she's also really smart and cute. So, what do you guys think? Who would you choose if you were in my position?

English Class

I had to write a poem for English class, and this is what I ended up producing

I tend to my garden
full of hurt people
and broken souls
I give each one the care it needs
Some need more sunlight
Some need more water
But they all need love to grow
Each one is harvested at some point
Whether they're done growing or not
Some leave and go to other places
But no matter what
They'll always have a spot in my garden

Tell me what you think! Leave me some criticism!

Introduction

Hey everyone,
This is my blog, and I'm going to start posting my thoughts on things here. I'm not quite sure what the format will be, but I'm gonna update regularly :D
